"Why?......"


Tourists in Georgetown, Guyana are still in shock after the apparent suicide of a 23-year-old Guyanese woman who broke away from a group and jumped off the 741-foot (225-meter) Kaieteur Falls at the end of an early morning tour...

"Never in history has this happened. This could seriously affect our business this tourism season," said Frank Singh, another local tour operator...

The Kaieteur Falls is more than four times the height of Niagara Falls at the U.S.-Canada border. According to local legend, the falls are named after Kaie, a chieftain of the Patamuna indigenous people, who paddled his canoe over the edge of the falls to appease the great spirit god...

"I can't take it anymore..."


"Suicide Tourism" as it has become known has seen many people shooting (cough) off to Switzerland to do the deed...

But this looks set to change as Swiss ministers try to bring in legislation to stop the flow of people seeking legal assisted suicide. A fear that this form of "Dark" tourism will mean that people may see Switzerland as the "Suicide" capital of Europe instead of looking at the other forms of tourism, has lead to justice minister Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf has called for organisations, such as Dignitas, to face much tougher controls.
